Highlights from the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario’s Council Meeting on March 23 and 24, 2023

• Council and Non-Council Committee members participated in two education sessions as part of the education plan. One session was on the public interest and the other was on equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Council elected Nitin Madhvani as the new Council President, effective June 26, 2023. Nitin is a public member of Council and the first public member to be elected President.
• Council elected Theresa Stevens as Vice President. Theresa is a physiotherapist and serves as a professional member of Council.
• Council also elected the following members to the Executive Committee: Carole Baxter (public member), Janet Law (professional member) and Katie Schulz (professional member).
• Council received the College Performance Measurement Framework (CPMF) Report for 2022. The CPMF report is publicly available on the Competency Framework page of the College website.
• Council received an update regarding the Ontario Clinical Exam (OCE), including information about the last hybrid administration, a summary of feedback from candidates and examiners, updated statistics including completions and registrations, and an overview of the plan to transition to virtual exams starting in June 2023.
• Council approved a revised standards review process that leverages the work done at the national level to develop core standards.
• Council received a presentation on Enterprise Risk Management, specifically on how to define risk. This is part of the Enterprise Risk Management plan that Council will be working on this year.
• Council was presented with the key performance indicators for 2023-2024 and provided feedback in preparation for the first quarter of reporting in June 2023.
• Council approved the 2023-2024 Operating Budget.
• Council approved the new Allowances and Expenses policy, effective April 1, 2023.
