The first email you got from the College about your screening interview includes a link to complete the extension/deferral request form.
Extensions and deferralsmay be granted for the following reasons:
- You have an injury or illness
- A family member has an injury or illness, and you are their main caregiver
- You are dealing with difficult personal circumstances
- You are not currently providing patient care
- You are involved in an active professional conduct matter with the College
A conflict of interest may exist if:
- You know the assessor personally
- The assessor is a family member
- You have another close connection with the assessor
The College considers several factors when matching physiotherapists with assessors, including practice setting and rostered activities. However, it may not always be possible to find a close match.
The interview questions apply to all practice settings. Assessors are trained to collect the information needed to score the interview.
Yes, interviews can be scheduled during evenings or weekends. You and the assessor will work together to find a suitable date and time.
Screening interviews are not usually held in person. An in-person interview may be considered as part of an accommodation.
To request an accommodation, contact the Quality Assurance Team at qualityassurance@collegept.org.
Screening interviews must be completed using the Risr platform.
If you have technical problems during the video interview, you may turn off your camera or continue the interview by phone.
No, do not include the patient’s name.
Include enough information to help you find the record later if the Quality Assurance Committee asks to review it.
Yes, you can use a multidisciplinary patient record.
Only review and score the notes related to the physiotherapy care you provided.
All physiotherapists selected for a screening interview must review one patient record using the Documentation Checklist.
Choose a record that best reflects the work you do. For example, if you only assess patients, choose a record for a patient you assessed.
You may not be able to score every item on the checklist. If an item does not apply to your practice or the record you selected:
- Mark the item Not Applicable.
- Briefly explain why it does not apply.
Only review and score the entries you completed. Do not review or score entries completed by other members of the health-care team.
Before your interview:
- Review the interview questions.
- Think of specific examples from your practice within the past two years.
- Review the rules and standards related to the interview topics.
- Complete your Documentation Checklist in Risr at least one week before your interview.
Your assessor may ask follow-up questions to better understand your examples. These questions are not provided in advance.
Yes, you can refer to notes or a patient chart during your interview.
Your answers should not be scripted. The interview is meant to be a conversation. Brief point-form notes may help you remember examples you want to discuss.
Your results will usually be available two to three weeks after your interview. We will email you when your results are ready.
Your results will tell you whether:
- You have completed the process, or
- You need to complete a virtual assessment.
If you need to complete a virtual assessment, the College will send you more information before it begins.
No. Your reports, including summary scores, are confidential and for your learning only. You should not share them with anyone.
We do not share your results with your employer, colleagues or other areas of the College.
No, you cannot request a second screening interview.
The interview helps determine if we need more information about your practice. If you are asked to complete a virtual assessment, you will have another opportunity to discuss your practice in more detail.
No, there is no appeal process for screening interview results.
The screening interview is used only to decide whether we need more information about your practice.
