Board Highlights — September 28 and 29, 2026

  • The Board approved a recommendation from the Risk, Audit and Finance Committee that the College not increase registration and administrative fees for the 2027-2028 financial year. Growth in the profession and a cost-saving move to a new office have put the College in a strong financial position. Learn more about how the College sets fees.  
  • The Board provided direction on a potential memorandum of understanding among provincial physiotherapy regulators related to virtual care. The Board supported exploring a memorandum that would make it easier for Canadian physiotherapists to provide virtual care in other provinces. 
  • Registrar Craig Roxborough gave the Board an update on the transition to the Canadian Physiotherapy Examination. As of the time of the Board meeting, there have been five sittings of the new exam and 1,600 candidates have taken it. The last administration of the Ontario Clinical Exam will take place in October 2026.   
  • The Board agreed to continue funding for committee members to access therapy and counselling services through the College’s Employee Assistance Program. Committee members often consider challenging regulatory matters dealing with sexual abuse or other difficult topics. 
  • The Board participated in a facilitated discussion to explore potential strategic priorities for the next year and help inform operational planning.  
  • The Board approved amendments to the Confidentiality Policy for Board and Committee Members. The updates are aimed at more clearly outlining confidentiality and information management obligations, addressing gaps, and establishing expectations regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI). 
  • The Board approved amendments to the College’s Competency Profile for Board and Committee Members. The amendments are intended as a refresh as the profile has been in use for three years now.  
  • The Board was provided with an update on the Q1 Risk Report. This included an overview of improvements to the report’s format. 
  • The Board reviewed and approved the 2025-2026 audited financial statements and reappointed an external auditor for the coming financial year. Auditors examine an organization’s financial statements and reports to ensure they are accurate and reliable.   
  • Building on a session at the June Board meeting, the Board engaged in continued financial education with a session on understanding audited statements.
