- The Board approved a draft of the updated Controlled Acts Standard to be circulated for a 60-day consultation. Share your feedback online until May 30, 2026.
- Before discussing the standard, the Board was provided with a primer on the controlled acts physiotherapists have access to, the legal framework and practical considerations.
- The Board reviewed and approved the budget for fiscal year 2026-2027. The budget presents a balanced financial position alongside an ambitious and fully funded operational plan that makes significant investment into strategic priorities.
- The Board determined that creating a retired class would not be in the public interest and decided not to pursue it further.
- The Board heard a presentation on the new Indigenous Registration Pathway at the College of Midwives of Ontario (CMO). Presenters Sue Eckenswiller, Director of Regulatory and Strategic Partnership at the Indigenous Advanced Education & Skills Council and Nancy Tran, CMO Director of Registration, explained how the pathway works, background on how it was created, and its benefits for Indigenous learners and communities.
- Dave Clements, CEO of the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators, provided the Board with an update on that organization’s activities, including recent developments in examinations and credentialling.
- College Registrar and CEO Craig Roxborough provided the Board with an update on the transition to the new Canadian Physiotherapy Exam and the wind down of the Ontario Clinical Exam.
- The Board provided feedback on a proposed plan to review and consider changes to the College’s governance practices. The plan includes timelines and priority areas identified by the Board, including governance structure, Board composition, fee principles, meeting structure, and Board evaluation and education.
- The Board discussed possible changes to meeting structure.
- The Board appointed Susie Renaud from the University of Ottawa as an Academic Director, effective June 18, 2026 to June 2029.
- The Board elected a chair, vice-chair and three executive committee members at large for 2026-2027.
