Multimedia Blog: Consent Best Practices

Consent is not something you obtain as a one-time step. It needs to be maintained through ongoing communication and check-ins.

In a new multimedia blog post, we go over how to ensure you’re receiving ongoing consent throughout a patient’s physiotherapy appointment.

Short videos illustrate what good practice looks like, along with what not to do, so you can see the difference in action.

Webinar: Build a Trauma-Informed Practice

June 24, 12 to 1:30 p.m.

You’re invited to a free 90-minute webinar about strategies to build a trauma-informed practice.

Led by a registered psychologist, the webinar will explore key principles for applying trauma-informed care in everyday practice, talk about how practitioners can support their own wellbeing, and address how current socioeconomic factors can impact how a person shows up to a health-care appointment.

The webinar will be recorded for those who cannot attend live. Please be sure to register if you would like to receive a recording afterward..

Myth vs Fact

A signed consent form is required by the College.

Is this a myth or a fact?

Practice Advice Question

Can I bill parent education sessions under a parent’s benefits if their child’s physiotherapy coverage is exhausted?

Controlled Acts Consultation

There’s still time to provide your feedback on updates to the Controlled Acts Standard.

The standard sets the requirements for physiotherapists to perform controlled acts like acupuncture, pelvic internal exams and spinal manipulation.

View the draft standard and share your thoughts at the link below.

Every piece of feedback will be summarized for the Board’s consideration before they decide whether to approve the updated standard.

Consultations close May 30.

An Animal Physiotherapist? There’s No Such Thing

A registered physiotherapist works at a veterinary clinic. Can they call themselves a physiotherapist when caring for animals?

In a new case of the month, we look at protected titles and examine why you can only use yours when doing work that falls within the physiotherapy scope of practice.

Recording Available: AI Webinar

Earlier this month, the College joined the Ontario Physiotherapy Association for a free webinar about AI and physiotherapy in Ontario.

If you missed the webinar, a recording is now available.

The webinar explores where the digital health landscape is heading, covers some real-life examples of AI shaping physiotherapy practice, and shares guidance for how to use these tools responsibly.
