Board Highlights — March 24 and 25, 2025

  • The Board approved, in principle, the adoption of the new national examination being developed by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR), pending the development of appropriate service contracts and transition plans. The new national exam is expected to launch in January 2026. Learn more here.  
  • The Board approved the following draft standards to be circulated for a 60-day consultation:  
  • The Board voted to join the Health Professions Discipline Tribunal as a pilot for a one-year period, pending implementation of necessary governance and operational changes. 
  • The Board approved amendments to the College’s General Regulation to be circulated for a 60-day consultation. These proposed amendments align with the planned move to a single exam and include sunsetting the Provisional Practice Class. These consultations will begin in April.  
  • The Board approved the College’s April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026 budget. 
  • The Board agreed to establish a Screening Committee to support the election process. Assuming this change receives final approval at the June Board meeting, the committee is expected to be in place for the 2026 election cycle.  
  • Katie Schulz was acclaimed as Board Chair for the 2025-2026 year. Gary Rehan was elected Vice-Chair. Both will also serve on the Executive Committee. Mark Heller, Frank Massey and Kirsten Pavelich were elected as Members at Large for the Executive Committee.  
  • The College’s Director of Strategy, Joyce Huang, led an education session, providing the Board with an introduction to the College’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
