Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) has recently been informed that Sun Life Financial has made a change to their policy surrounding the prescribing and dispensing of custom orthotics. As of February 1, 2019, physiotherapists have been excluded from the list of eligible prescribers and dispensers. After contacting Sun Life, we have discovered that this decision from the Sun Life Best Practices team was based on a document published by the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA).
 
CPA has been in contact with Sun Life and CLHIA and will continue advocating for the profession in this matter.
