Starting March 1, 2019, health information custodians will be required to provide an annual report to the Information and Privacy Commissioner setting out the number of times in the preceding calendar year, personal health information in the health information custodian’s custody or control was stolen, lost, used without authority, and/or disclosed without authority.

For custodians to prepare for this reporting requirement, they must start tracking their privacy breach statistics as of January 1, 2018. Learn what you need to know or visit www.ipc.on.ca.
