Ontario Clinical Exam
The Ontario Clinical Exam is a three-hour virtual exam that assesses a candidate’s knowledge skills and abilities. During the exam, two examiners ask the candidate questions using a structured interview format. The exam includes two case studies, which allow candidates to share how they would approach an assessment and treatment.
With the introduction of the Canadian Physiotherapy Exam offered by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR), the Ontario Clinical Exam will be discontinued at the end of 2026.
Exam Applications Closed
Applications to take the Ontario Clinical Exam are now closed.
The Ontario Clinical Exam is being replaced by the Canadian Physiotherapy Examination, run by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators.
Candidates who attempt the Ontario Clinical Exam and are unsuccessful can apply to take the exam again through the PT Portal. These retake attempts will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Applying to retake the exam does not guarantee you a spot.
