Proposed Amendments to the General Regulation: We Want to Hear from You

We are now encouraging feedback on proposed amendments to the General Regulation.

Changes to the General Regulation Part III: Registration are being considered, now that the Board has indicated an intention to adopt a new, single entry-to-practice exam for physiotherapists in Ontario. This new exam would replace the current two-part exam model (i.e., where separate written and clinical exams are completed). A comprehensive transition plan will be announced in May. Read more about this proposed change to the examination model

Due to the intention to move to a single exam, the Board is proposing removal of the Provisional Practice Certificate Class, as well as other housekeeping updates. The Provisional Practice Certificate class was originally intended to be a bridge between the two parts of the current exam model. With a move to a single exam, this class is no longer needed.

  1. I feel that is a good idea, provided there is one day gap between 2 exams if possible. After clearing the PCE, a lot of residents (including me) had no idea where to start and what especially when significant numbers of employers are practicing fraudulent practices for making money. If the residents are aware of the ethical code and conducts it is easier to prevent such unethical practices. However, a lot of residents are ignorant and thus put their license at risk(especially when you work really hard to get your license)

Again, just an opinion, I could be wrong but I feel that is best for patients as well as PTs
