About the Proposed Standards

Background

The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario is seeking comments on three draft Standards of Practice:

  1. Advertising and Marketing
  2. Documentation
  3. Funding, Fees and Billing

On September 23, 2024, the Board approved the Standards to go out for a 60-day consultation to registrants, our partners, and the public. After the consultation closes, the Board will take into account the feedback received and decide whether to approve the Standards for use.

What do the Proposed Standards Cover?

Below, you’ll find a description of each Standard’s outcomes and whether it would be a new standard for physiotherapists in Ontario.

  1. Advertising and Marketing

Physiotherapists’ advertising, marketing, and promotional activities are true, accurate, and verifiable.

This would replace the College’s existing Advertising Standard.

  2. Documentation

Physiotherapists maintain patient records that are accurate, complete, and confidential, completed in a timely manner, and easily retrievable.

This would replace the College’s existing Record Keeping Standard.

  3. Funding, Fees and Billing

Physiotherapists manage their fees and billing practices with accuracy, fairness, and transparency.

This would replace the College’s existing Fees, Billing, and Accounts Standard.

We Want to Hear from You

The College welcomes your input. Please review the proposed Standards and provide your feedback by Sunday, November 24, 2024.
