About the Proposed By-law Changes: Increases to Professional Corporation Fees
Issue
The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario is seeking comments on proposed changes to By-law section 9.2 to raise fees for professional corporations by 2%. All other fees will remain at current levels for the 2026 fiscal year.
Why is a fee increase for professional corporations being proposed?
At the December 2023 Board Meeting, the Board approved a 2% increase to all registration and administrative fees for the 2025 fiscal year.
The fees related to professional corporations were not included in the 2% increase. This was due to a procedural error. When the Board approved the proposed fee increase for consultation in September 2023, the motion did not reference Section 9.2 of the College’s By-laws. This is the section that sets out fees for professional corporations.
Because the fees for professional corporations were not included in the motion, they were not properly consulted on. As such, the fees for professional corporations remained unchanged for the 2024 fiscal year.
Fee Increase — Professional Corporations
In keeping with the December 2023 decision to raise all registration and administrative fees, it is being proposed that fees for professional corporations be increased by 2% for FY2026. This corrects the procedural error and brings fees for professional corporations in line with all other registration and administrative fees.
On September 24, 2024, the Board provisionally approved a professional corporation fee increase of 2% for the April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026 registration year.
This would result in the following new fees:
Fee | Current Fee | Increase | New Fee |
---|---|---|---|
Professional Corporation Application | $ 774.00 | 2% | $ 789.00 |
Professional Corporation Renewal | $ 277.00 | 2% | $ 283.00 |
Official Certificate of Authorization | $ 28.00 | 2% | $ 29.00 |
No other fee increases are currently being proposed.Only fees related to professional corporations are being consulted on at this time.
The College will continue to monitor its financial situation and explore cost reductions to ensure registrants’ fees are used prudently and responsibly.
