Highlights from the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario’s Council Meeting on December 12 and 13, 2022

• Council participated in an educational session about financial literacy and received an overview of the College’s investments.
  
  
• Council appointed Hilborn LLP as the Auditor for the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for the fiscal year 2023.
  
  
• Council formally approved the proposed By-law 8.7 Fees – Ontario Clinical Exam, to take effect immediately.
  
  
• Council directed staff to include the following strategic projects in their operational and budget planning for 2023-2024: 
  
  o Equity Diversity ad Inclusion Strategy
  o Data Strategy
  o Cybersecurity audit
  o External audit of Professional Conduct
  o Governance Review
  o Standards Review
  o Enterprise Risk Management
  
  
• Council approved retaining an external third party to review the College’s financial operations, practices, procedures, and processes. The third party will produce a report outlining their findings and recommendations by March 31, 2023.
  
  
• Council confirmed its support for a pan-Canadian approach to physiotherapy regulation where possible and working with the College’s physiotherapy partners at a national level. Council also confirmed that it would support financial requests to support national initiatives on a case-by-case basis. 
  
  
• Council received an update regarding the first administrations of the Ontario Clinical Exam, including a comprehensive review of candidate and examiner feedback from the October and November exams.
  
  
• Council was advised of upcoming dates for the virtual administrations of the Ontario Clinical Exam. Registration for the virtual exams will open in January 2023.
  
  
• Council participated in two workshops led by College staff. One focused on the College’s future approach to standard development and the other focused on social media guidance for physiotherapists.
