About the College

The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario serves the public interest by regulating physiotherapists to ensure patients have access to safe, ethical, competent and equitable physiotherapy care.

All physiotherapists must be registered with the College to practice in Ontario. People cannot call themselves a physiotherapist or PT if they are not registered with the College and listed on our Public Register.

The College also sets the standards and develops programs to support physiotherapists in the delivery of high-quality care. We investigate all complaints or concerns about PTs and take appropriate action as needed.

Self-Regulation

Self-regulation is a partnership between the College and registered physiotherapists. We all share responsibility and accountability to self-regulate and determine, evaluate and enforce the standards of the profession. We are all working toward a shared mandate to serve the public interest and ensure every Ontarian has access to safe, ethical, competent and equitable physiotherapy care.
