Board Highlights — December 8 and 9, 2025

  • The Board approved the adoption of the revised Supervision Standard, effective February 1, 2026, and rescinded the previous Supervision Standard and the Working With Physiotherapist Assistants Standard as of that date. 
  • The Board approved the College’s Strategic Plan for 2026-2030. 
  • The Board heard an update on the transition to the Canadian Physiotherapy Examination, administered by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR). This included details on work underway at CAPR to modernize credentialing services and prepare to launch the new exam in January and work by the College to wind down the Ontario Clinical Exam. 
  • Staff provided an update on the College’s analysis of how to address boundary issues in small communities where it may not be possible for a physiotherapist to avoid treating someone they have a personal relationship with. Guidance to physiotherapists on this issue is included in the Boundary Violation Standards Guide.  
  • College staff, a representative from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and an academic from McMaster University shared a presentation on the current profile of the physiotherapy profession. This information will help inform the Board’s decision-making. 
  • The Board received an overview of the Governance Practices Review and provided directions on next steps. 
  • The Board approved amendments to the Committee Slate, including appointing members to the new Screening Committee and to the Discipline Committee. 
  • The Board approved amendments to the College By-laws, including a revised Code of Conduct and disqualification procedure for Directors and Non-Board Committee members. 
  • The Board appointed Hilborn LLP as the Auditor for the College for fiscal year 2026.
