Ministry of Health Consulting on Scope of Practice Changes
The Ministry of Health is considering expanding the scope of practice of multiple health professionals, including physiotherapists, and is inviting comments as part of a consultation process.
The proposed changes would allow physiotherapists to order electromagnetism for magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs) and to order the application of soundwaves for diagnostic ultrasounds. The ministry is also seeking feedback on which X-rays physiotherapists should be allowed to order and if physiotherapists should be authorized to order CT scans.
No changes to scope of practice have been made at this point.
Consultations close on November 3, 2025.

Craig also talks about how the College is approaching its responsibility to work toward reconciliation and shares some resources you can use in your practice to support culturally safe care.

Case of the Month: Unexpected Emails
Regardless of the intent, using personal health information without appropriate patient consent is against the law.
In a new case of the month, we look at what happens when a physiotherapist collects and saves information they shouldn’t.
Myth vs Fact
Indigenous patients have diverse experiences and needs. Physiotherapists should ask what kind of support would make each patient feel the safest.
Is this a myth or a fact?

Now Recruiting: Screening Committee Members
We’re recruiting physiotherapists and members of the public for a new Screening Committee.
The committee will screen and vet candidates for election to the Board of Directions, ensuring they meet the eligibility requirements set out in College by-laws.
The Screening Committee is expected to meet at least once a year. Meetings are held virtually.
Committee members are compensated for the time that they spend attending meetings, preparing for meetings, and participating in activities related to their role. The current rate for meeting attendance is $54/hour or $379 for a full day. The current rate for meeting preparation is $52/hour.
